Sunflower Oil

Sunflower oil is the natural oil that is extracted from the Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) flower seeds. The plant is native to the Americas and grows wild as well as being cultivated. The flowers can grow to be as high as 3 meters high. They have bright yellowish orange petals surrounding a deep brown center. The oil is a rich golden color and has a very pleasant smell, which makes it great for bases where other essential oils are added. This oil is very high in lineolic acid, which is great for skin.

This is a great moisturizing oil for the skin and may even provide an infection resisting barrier! In fact, sunflower oil has been used on infants which are premature and it provides an amazing resistance to infection. Infections decreased in 41% infants that were treated daily with this oil! Because their skin was underdeveloped, the infections were getting through easily until the oil was utilized as a protectant. There are large amounts of vitamin E in the oil and this makes it great for repairing damaged skin, such as skin with stretch marks, scars, old marks from acne, sunburn and more. When used as a repairing tool, this oil can reduce the appearance of scars and such and turn them back to the natural skin color. Certain times, an aggravated redness appears in stretch marks and scars. The oil works to get rid of this redness and make the scars less noticeable.

For skin that has been prematurely aged due to smoking or the sun, the oil is great for repairing it. It reduces the look of fine lines and wrinkles, especially the 'crow's feet' around the eyes and the fine, spidery wrinkles which can appear around the mouth. It is also a great base for massage oils or can be used alone, especially in individuals who are more sensitive to stronger smelling oils. It can be heated slightly to create a relaxing massage and can also be heated for use on the hair, like a hot oil treatment.

This a great oil for all over moisturizing because it absorbs very quickly into the skin and nourishes each layer of the skin. When used regularly, the oil can significantly soften and smooth skin to help create smooth, soft skin that is completely healthy and beautiful.
