Kukui Nut Oil

The oil comes from the Kukui nut, and is usually extracted through cold-pressing methods. This nut is very similar to the Macadamia nut and comes from the Kukui tree, which grows in tropical areas like Hawaii. This tree of many names is actually the Aleurites moluccana and is often called the Candlenut tree, the Indian Walnut tree or the Varnish Tree. Growing 50 to 80 feet tall in the wild, this tree grows small, flat, rubbery looking leaves and during blooming season, produces tiny clusters of white flowers. Of course, it also produces the nut, which is where the oil comes from. The oil is a clear, amber tinted color and smells reminiscent of the Macadamia nut. It is 24% lineolic acid, which makes it a wonderful skin care additive.

Because of the nourishing qualities, the oil is great for healing skin problems associated with sunburn, windburn and chapping. It is also great for other conditions which cause inflammation and irritation, such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and similar conditions. It is also great for preventing other skin conditions and keeping the skin protected and healthy. For instance, the oil is great for preventing stretch marks and the lines and wrinkles of aging. By rubbing the oil on each day, you can effectively prevent fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks and more. For existing stretch marks, you can significantly lighten and fade them.

The oil is one of the greatest moisturizers and can be used all over the body for any type of skin. For those who experience extreme dry skin in the winter, this oil is perfect. Simply rub it on after you get out of the shower and your skin will stay hydrated and moisturized. Another great thing that Kukui oil is great for is hair and nails. For hair, heat the oil in your microwave for just a few seconds. Be extremely careful as it can get quite hot. When it is a comfortable warm, apply it to your hair like a hot oil treatment to soften and smooth your hair as well as making it healthier and more manageable. This oil is excellent for rubbing on your cuticles and fingernails for health and prevention. It can be great with massage and you can add some other essential oils to it in order to get the desired scent and affect. For example, peppermint oil for increased energy and lavender oil for sleep! This really is a great type of oil and is so health beneficial that using it every day as a preventative method would be great.
